How to check that your domain name is eligible for transfer?
Write your current domain name above and we will check if it is eligible for transfer.
Before starting the transfer of any domain name make sure your domain meets the following conditions:
- Your domain name was registered or transferred at least 60 days ago
- Your domain lock (aka registrar lock) is unlocked/removed at the current registrar.
- Request your domain's Auth/EPP Code from your current registrar.
You can ask us to find your domain's current registrar or you can use our Whois Lookup Tool to find out your domain registrar.
If all criteria are met, you should be able to complete the transfer successfully.
Still, some ccTLDs (.ES and .UK) have additional transfer requirements and/or exclude some points from the list above.

How do I check if my domain is locked for transfer?

Do I really have to wait 60 days to transfer a domain?
In most cases, yes. Under ICANN's transfer policy, registrars can deny a transfer within 60 days of the domain's registration or its last transfer, and almost all of them do. Wait until the period ends, then start the transfer.
Do I have to unlock my domain to transfer it?
Yes. Turn off the registrar lock (also called transfer lock) in your current registrar's control panel and request the authorization (EPP) code. A locked domain cannot be transferred.
Can I transfer an expired domain?
Usually yes, as long as it is still in the grace period and has not been deleted, but some registrars ask you to renew it first. If the domain is in redemption, restore it at your current registrar before transferring.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most transfers complete within 5 to 7 days. You can speed it up by approving the transfer email sent by your current registrar.
Will my website and email keep working during the transfer?
Yes. Your nameservers and DNS records stay the same while the transfer is in progress. If your DNS is hosted at your current registrar, copy your records to NameOcean's free DNS before the transfer completes.
Does the transfer extend my registration?
Yes. Transfers include a 1-year extension added to your current expiry date, so you don't lose any time you have already paid for. .uk domains are the exception.
