Den nye rollen til utviklere
Det skjer en endring i hvordan vi jobber med kode, og mange har ikke helt fått med seg hvor raskt det går. Tidligere var det å skrive god kode selve prestisjen i faget. Den som kunne bygge elegante løsninger og levere ren kode, fikk både respekt og høyere lønn.
Denne tiden er i ferd med å gå mot slutten.
Hos selskaper som Synthesia tar AI-agenter nå hånd om det meste av koden som havner i produksjon. Mengden endringer har økt, men tiden brukt til å gjennomgå dem har holdt seg omtrent lik. Det er ikke bare en liten ulempe – det er en risiko som mange team fortsatt ikke ser.
De utviklerne som lykkes nå, er ikke de som koder raskest. De er de som har lært å være kritiske når de ser på AI-generert kode.
Hva har egentlig endret seg
AI-verktøy har ikke bare blitt litt bedre. De gjør noe helt annet enn før.
Tidligere var Copilot mest en smart autofullfør. Today's tools are different creatures entirely. Cursor 3, Claude Code, and the latest GitHub Copilot can take a task description—"refactor this authentication module to support OAuth2"—and produce a cascade of changes across multiple files. These aren't suggestions anymore. They're complete solutions that touch dozens of locations in your codebase, accounting for dependencies and side effects you might not have even considered.
That's powerful. It's also terrifying if you're not prepared for it.
The skill set required for software engineering just inverted. Writing clean code is still valuable, but it's no longer the bottleneck. The bottleneck is now:
- Precision in direction — Can you brief an AI agent clearly enough that it understands what you actually need?
- Rigor in review — Can you catch the specific, systematic ways that AI consistently fails before that code touches production?
This isn't just a minor shift in workflow. This is a new job description.
